Eleanor Freeman

Hammer, A Streetcar Named Desire, QiXi

Eleanor received her dance training in Australia at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Upon graduation, she was accepted as a Professional Year student with the Queensland Ballet. After this time, she joined and danced for six years with the Queensland Ballet in numerous productions, most notable of which were the roles of Giselle and Myrtha, Carabosse in ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ and Russian Girl in George Balanchine’s 'Serenade'. She has also appeared in choreographies by Nils Christe, Ben Stevenson, Ma Cong, Natalie Weir, Jack Lister, Sir Kenneth MacMillan and François Klaus. 

In 2016, she moved to Germany, joining the Staatsballett Hannover under the direction of Jörg Mannes. From 2018 she was engaged with Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg under the direction of Martin Schläpfer and Remus Şucheană. 

She danced in their choreographies and in pieces by Hans van Manen, George Balanchine, Uwe Scholz, Martin Chaix and Jerome Robbins. She has performed on many stages in Europe, as well as in Taiwan and Japan. 

Since 2020 she has worked as a freelance artist in Germany, Switzerland and Australia, both on stage and in various positions off.

Since 2023 she worked alongside Martin Chaix as his choreographic assistant with the creation of “Hammer”, “Endstation Sehnsucht” and “QiXi”
